Substitute Teachers

  • Northeast Woodland seeks Substitute Teachers for the 2023-24 academic year. Candidates for this position will have a strong desire to work as part of a team in a dynamic school committed to inspiring creative thinkers and discovering a unique connection to learning. The hours for this position are 7:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.

    Responsibilities for this position may include:

    Substitute teaching in Early Childhood and/or Grades 1-8
    Substitute teaching in our Aftercare Programs (which runs from 3PM until 5pm)
    Lunch and Recess Duties
    Support for all teaching staff
    Main Office and administrative duties, including answering phones and greeting visitors
    Assisting in the school kitchen

    Education/Experience Requirements

    The ideal candidate will have experience as a substitute teacher with students ages 3–14 and must demonstrate skill, confidence, and expertise in working with students.

    A Bachelor's degree is preferred. Work experience commensurate with a degree will be considered.

    Waldorf training and teaching experience are a plus.

Paraprofessional
(one-on-one aid)


  • Pre-K: Half day (8am-12:00pm)

    One to One Aide Job Description:
    Under the supervision of a lead teacher, the aide will provide direct service to the individual student and participate in the daily instruction and activities of the class and school alongside the assigned student.

    TASKS

    Work closely with the lead teacher and educational support personnel to implement strategies and tools to assist the student in developing positive work habits and coping strategies.

    Under the teacher's supervision, provide guidance to the student in a variety of individual and group activities to reinforce instructional objectives, implement IEP plans, and ensure student's success in school.

    Adapts classroom activities and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher to support and reinforce classroom objectives and meet IEP Goals.

    Work with the student one-on-one by providing her with additional attention, redirection, and encouragement to complete tasks without overly engaging in social play.

    Implement behavioral plans to meet student’s needs for social, educational, and physical development in accordance with her IEP.

    Monitors student's daily schedule and behavior plan to maintain a safe and positive learning environment.

    Take notes of important information such as areas of weakness or limitations for the Team to consider at meetings.

    Communicate with the lead teacher and educational support personnel to assess progress toward IEP objectives.

    Respond to emergencies such as injuries, fights, or medical issues to immediate resolution.

    Assist and escort the student when necessary for transitions and arrival to/from destinations.

    Maintain a professional relationship with child’s parents and observe confidentiality regarding school, child, and family matters

    Support the lead teacher in implementing the daily rhythm when requested

    Support healthy play dynamics and appropriate classroom management techniques

    Care for the physical and emotional well-being of the child

Outdoor Education Teacher
(Part-Time)

  • Outdoor Education Teacher (1st-8th grade)

    Northeast Woodland Charter School is seeking a part time Outdoor Education Teacher beginning summer 2024.
    General Statement of Responsibilities: 
Our school is seeking a dynamic candidate who will be working as part of a collaborative team with class teachers educating kindergarten through 8th grade students. The ideal applicant will be an experienced elementary and middle school outdoor educator who is able to work with students with a variety of learning styles and different levels of skill and ability. Experience in Waldorf education is preferred, however, training will be available. Responsibilities include planning and teaching each grade where classes are designed to support the overall student’s development and encourage a love of place and the outdoors.
Essential to this role is working with parents, establishing respectful communication and relationships.
Specialty teachers will also serve the school through committee work and other administrative responsibilities as well as through close collegial work with the faculty.
    Salary and Benefits: This is a part-time position. Pay is based on experience and qualifications.
    Skills and training:
    Have received at least a bachelor’s degree at an approved higher education institution
    Hold an appropriate license with all required endorsements as approved by the NHDOE or be on track to complete an alternative licensure within 3 years of hiring
    WFR Certification
    Interest in working with children from 1st grade through 8th grade
    Demonstrate a strong commitment to the mission, pedagogy and methods of Waldorf education
    Comfortable working with wider community members.
    Be able to differentiate instruction based on the needs of students
    Understand how to use formative and summative assessment to inform teaching practice
    Have excellent communication skills and an ability to work well with colleagues, administration, and parents
    Be willing to seek additional training and certification, such as the requirements set forth in NCLB for “Highly Qualified” teachers; and
    Seek continual learning and self-development.

Middle School Math Skills / Main Lesson Teacher

  • Northeast Woodland is seeking a full-time math teacher to join our Middle School team beginning summer 2024. This teacher will work collaboratively with our three middle school class teachers and our special educators. Teaching responsibilities include 6th grade, 7th grade, and 8th grade math skills classes, as well as three Math main lesson blocks. Prior experience with teaching pre-algebra and algebra necessary. This teacher will also work in a support role during other Middle School Main lesson blocks.

    Requirements:

    Received at minimum a bachelor’s degree at an approved higher education institution.
    Willing to complete NH teacher licensure requirements.
    Strong Math background
    Successful experience working with students in the middle school years, including an ability to build strong relationships with students.
    At least one year of teaching experience.
    Experience, familiarity, and/or genuine interest in Waldorf education. A completed Waldorf teacher training is ideal.
    Desire to be a member of a very collaborative team of middle school teachers.
    Good classroom management skills
    Excellent communication skills and an ability to work well with colleagues, administration, and parents

    Benefits and Compensation:

    This is a full-time position with regular school hours. Benefits include medical healthcare, a 3% simple IRA matching contribution, and an opportunity for further training. Salary based on experience and qualifications.

    Northeast Woodland utilizes a block sharing model in the middle school years, with teachers specializing in Math, Science, Social Studies, and Geography/English. They ensure student learning and growth through the use of formative and summative assessments, and based on their observations, adjust their teaching to provide additional resources as needed. Essential to this role is working with parents to establish respectful communication and providing parent education. This teacher will also serve the school through committee work and other administrative responsibilities as well as through close collegial work with the faculty.

    Northeast Woodland Public Chartered School opened our doors in the Fall of 2020 as the first charter school in the Northeast offering a Waldorf approach. We serve students in preK-8th grade.


Early Childhood Assistant

    Northeast Woodland Charter School is seeking a part time Early Childhood Classroom Assistant
    General Statement of Responsibilities:
Our school is seeking a dynamic candidate who will be working as part of a collaborative team with the Early Childhood Lead Teacher. Our Early Childhood students spend many hours outside every day in all types of weather. The ideal applicant will have previous experience working with young students and is able to manage a group kindly and effectively. The position requires a strong interest in Waldorf Education. Responsibilities include assisting the Early Childhood teacher in the outdoor classroom and the indoor classroom, as well as helping with arrivals, departures, and end of the day re-organization.
    Salary and Benefits: This position will be paid hourly at $14/hr-$17/hr, depending on experience.
